Blatchford Head of Research Wins Prestigious ISPO UK Award

On Saturday 1st October 2016, Dr David Moser, Head of Research at Blatchford, was awarded the prestigious George Murdoch medal by ISPO UK. 

David was presented with the award by ISPO President Professor Rajiv Hanspal at the ISPO UK Annual Scientific Meeting in Glasgow for his contribution to biomimetic hydraulic ankle development. Hydraulic ankles have been clinically proven to provide greater comfort, reduced socket pressures, improved safety, reduced risk of trips and falls and more evenly balanced inter-limb loading, helping to preserve the body for the long term.

Dr David Moser commented “It was an honour to accept the prize and for the recognition of the efforts of so many which have enabled hydraulic ankles to become a reality to help amputees.”

George Murdoch was a founder of ISPO International and a pioneer in amputee rehabilitation. The George Murdoch medal is awarded every two years to an individual who demonstrates a commitment and understanding of the needs of patients, and shows evidence of commitment to the disabled.
