Linx actively senses and analyses data on user movement, activity, environment and terrain. It provides a coordinated stream of instructions to the hydraulic support system.
It ensures fast adjustment and easy navigation of slopes and steps, allowing amputees to think about where they are going, rather than how they are going to get there.
Note: Ankle hydraulics mimic the eccentric contractions of muscles that move the foot. There is also evidence that hydraulic ankles reduce deep tissue trauma, they also allow for more symmetrical loading and less compensatory movements, thus reducing the loads on other parts of the body and hence the likelihood of osteoarthritis in those articulations than would be the case with fixed ankles. Linx is also biomimetic in that is co-ordinates the movement/responses of the knee and ankle.
By considering the natural function of the limb and replacing its structure through a unique combination of design elements, Blatchford biomimetic hydraulic technology provides greater safety and a more natural walking experience.
