From Athlete to Co-Owner:
How Alfie Scott Is Shaping the Future of GB Disabled Strongman
Some career journeys reveal a person’s purpose with absolute clarity. For Alfie Scott, former world-class athlete and now Co-Owner of GB Disabled Strongman, every step has been driven by resilience, community and a commitment to elevating others.
Rising to Lead
After retiring from competition, Alfie moved into the role of Athlete Liaison. She quickly became the trusted point of contact for competitors across the UK. Her leadership and empathy made her indispensable, and when co-founder Martin Tye stepped back from the organisation, Alfie was the natural choice to step forward.
“I get to make decisions about how the business works. I am proud of myself.”
Today, she co-leads the organisation with Becky Ingram, one of the original founders of GB Disabled Strongman. Together, they represent one of the few female-led sports organisations in the UK. Their leadership signals to athletes and supporters that strength sport is a place where everyone can belong.

A Community Built on Strength in Every Sense
GB Disabled Strongman is more than a competitive platform. It is a support network for people navigating disability, trauma and major life changes. Many athletes are veterans who are rebuilding confidence and identity through training and community. Alfie speaks openly about the emotional weight of their stories and the transformation that happens when they find a place where they feel understood.
“
It is like one big family. If someone is suffering, they can come to us, and we will help them.
”
This ethos of care is central to Alfie's leadership. She and Becky ensure every athlete feels supported, whether they are chasing world records or stepping into the sport for the first time.

Record-Breaking Talent and a Growing Global Stage
The organisation continues to expand its reach and ambition. This year includes appearances at the Fit Expo in Bolton and the highly anticipated World Record Breakers Day in Bury St Edmunds. The event will draw athletes from around the world and will be refereed by respected figures, including Andrea Thompson and Matt Dimond, Wales’s Strongest Man.
The performances are extraordinary. One athlete recently achieved a 700-kilogram seated deadlift, the heaviest lift ever recorded by any athlete, disabled or able-bodied. These achievements reflect what becomes possible when talent meets opportunity.
Looking Ahead and How to Follow the Journey
GB Disabled Strongman has a full calendar of events, including:
- World Record Breakers Day on 12 July in Bury St Edmunds
- Melton Mowbray Outdoor Competition for developing athletes
- The Brits at Bath University in September
- Fit Expo Manchester in November
- World Championships with details to be confirmed

A Future Built In Strength
The organisation’s motto, In Strength, has taken on new meaning for Alfie.
“You do not just have to be physically strong. You have to be mentally strong as well.”
Her journey from athlete to advocate to co-owner embodies that message. Under her leadership, the future of GB Disabled Strongman looks stronger than ever.
